Bec Wheeler
Bec Wheeler came to speak to us for skills week which was such a wonderful experience. I have been a huge fan of her naive yet complex illustrations and artworks for a long time.
These are a series of works she did for a commission which she printed and embossed. Her personal work is fuller in textures and rhythms of patterning. It is reassuring to see such a successful artists that uses an abundance of vibrant colours and an overwhelming number of patterns just in one work. She told me to ignore the people who state less is more because for her more is more.

A little garden trip
I went to a public garden to get reference images for if i ever have any spare time to do some botanical sketches.
beautiful mexican moo moo
i love the colours and vibrant needle work on this Mexican moo moo which i got from a friend. when i went to Mexico, they had these for sale everywhere especially in Oaxaca but i never got one for myself. there was just too many variations and by the end it just got so overwhelming that i decided to wait till i find the perfect one whether it was while i was in Mexico or when i got back home. Mexican women wear these as house dresses for they are not only light to accommodate the heat but they are very comfortable and roomy. Older mexican women tend to wear a simpler version of this and also a decorative apron usually decorated with images of vegetables and flowers.

Easy rider: are we ever free?
I watched the iconic 1969 film Easy rider by the wonderful Dennis Hopper the other night and it got me thinking. Even if we try to follow a life of freedom and individual choice, because of outsiders responses to this lifestyle choice, are we ever really free? I can't help but compromise my internal debate with the word balance. i feel as though i use this word to tie up all problems i face. This time, i am not satisfied and need to follow this thought through till i finish with some kind of mantra.
